Vindicated! The other day, a group of juveniles driving in a white Jeep
Cherokee threw a large rock at me, while I was riding near Northern High in
Owings. They also almost ran me off the road. The rock struck my elbow
(hard!) and almost caused me to crash…I was going about 20mph. I managed
to get the tag number and before my bubble-head brain forgot it, I grabbed
my cell phone and entered it in as a phone number to help me remember amidst
my angry haze.
When I returned home, I called the Sheriff’s office to report the
incident…but I really did not have much faith that anything would come of
it. I just figured they’d say something like…” thank you, we will keep an
eye out for any further incidents with a vehicle of that description”. But
no …they actually sent an officer to my home, and he was very grateful and
took a full report even though there was no obvious damage to my bike or
myself. He said they would run the tag, go to the residence and somehow get
the info they needed to follow through.
I got a call later that day saying they had found the individual (a
17-year-old) and were charging him!
So if something similar happens to you and you manage to get the tag #…go
ahead and follow through on it!
