NEWS UPDATE–PLANNING BOARD ADOPTS PLAN
The Baltimore County Planning Board voted to approve the Eastern County Pedestrian and Bicycle Access Plan, with amendments, after the public hearing held on July 20, 2006. While attendence at the public hearing was light, all comments supported adoption of the plan.
The Planning Office had proposed amendments to the plan based on citizen comments received prior to the hearing. The amendments clarified the role of an advisory committee to oversee the plan’s implementation. The committee will have the ability to adjust the types of facility improvements, funding sources and scheduling as appropriate to meet community needs and to take advantage of
opportunities to combine projects. The committee will also consider the recommendations of adopted local area community plans, and undertake a more detailed review of each proposal before implementation.
The next step is adoption of the amended plan by the Baltimore County Council. It is anticipated that the Council will schedule its public hearing on the plan
in September.
