This is a composite I cut and pasted of the title and main data table from the English language summary of the Copenhagen Cycletrack (Sidepath) and Cycle Lane (Bike Lane) report from 2007. The study shows large increases in the most frequent crossing crash types, right hooks (more than double) and left crosses [see dashed red arrows], though pullouts, the other frequent crossing crash type, are not identified. The table also shows a large increase in bike-bike crashes [red arrow at top]. The increases in bike-ped crashes, particularly for bus passengers is startling, an over 20x increase! When cyclists are not treated as drivers – typically by being forced to the edge of the road – their crossing crash rate and total crash rate increases substantially. And finally a somewhat bizarre note, why was there a huge increase of motorists right hooking other motorists [red ??] after cycletracks were added; this is not something I would expect to happen in the US.
