did anyone else see some city workers painting a bike lane on pratt today beyond the normal orange barrier? it’s really just a sharrow right now. what is to come of this?
From what I got from Nate Evans, who is the city’s bicycle coordinator, this bike/bus lane you’ve seen will run from MLK to President St. They’re looking to have it finished in January. A similar setup will also appear on Lombard St. so that there will be a designated east to west route for bicyclists too. At this time most cars have been obeying it during my ride times to and from work. There is the occasional car that zips out in to the lane to pass traffic. I’ve been pretty vigilant about watching out for this. My biggest concern is that we still have grates along Pratt St. that could be detrimental to a cyclist.
