The Village of Cross Keys "MovieFest" —a month-long series of free movies in the Cross Keys courtyard on Saturday nights throughout the month of June. The MovieFest line-up will feature blockbuster films, each with a Baltimore twist.

· June 6th, 8:30 pm, “Hairspray” (written and directed by John Waters)

· June 13th, 8:35 pm, “Avalon” (written and directed by Barry Levinson)

· June 20th, 8:40 pm, “The Accidental Tourist” (based on the novel by Ann Tyler)

· June 27th, 8:45 pm, “Cry Baby” (written and directed by John Waters)

The festivities will begin each Saturday evening at 6 pm with food, drink, music and prizes in the village square. Pre-movie dinner specials will be offered at each of the Cross Keys restaurants: Crossroads, Donna’s Café and Village Square Café. The retail shops will have extended hours and many will offer shopping specials. The free movies will begin at sunset. Guests are invited to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets; limited seats will be provided.

MovieFest is being produced by Extraordinary Events and sponsored by the Cross Keys shops, restaurants and businesses.

Come One, Come All by bike on May 14th. We’ll be biking from pub to pub, consuming alcohol in between a moderately paced (ok, crawl) bike ride. All are welcome on the Six-Pack Rides. We meet every Tuesday (weather pending) @ 10PM @ Charles & Read Streets. Generally, we meet up, take a few long rides, but our destinations are parks and open places where we can hang out and drink a few beers. We try and stay out of bars so we can just hang out on our terms and cheaply. We don’t super promote it because it should still be a relatively intimate number of people (below 25, I’d hope), so we can have fun and not attract a ton of attention. We do hope that people of all skill levels attend, but we don’t ride slow–like critical mass. It’s a good chance to ride at night and make connections. Last night was fun and quick–good times all around.

Saturday is the Bike Blast…anyone who may want to bike from somewhere to the Bike Blast please let me know. Maybe we can have a group ride there.

Laurie: I’d be up for a ride associated with Bike Blast on Saturday, if others in South Baltimore are interested.

A 24-hour, non-competitive charity cycling event that is geared for teams and individuals and is open to participants of all ages and skill levels. Proceeds to benefit Johns Hopkins Medicine, the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults (UCF) and Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF).

The Clean & Green team is planning a fun bike tour around Hampden and the surrounding green areas. We will make a pit stop at Baltimore Bicycle Works for refreshments and a tour around the newest, closest bike shop to Hampden. The Bike tour is scheduled for May 2 from 10 am until noon.

Annual
Event to Raise Funds for Autism Research

BALTIMORE,
MD – This year, families
throughout the region will once again come together to “ROAR”
for the millions of children with autism who cannot. Celebrating its
5^th
anniversary, Kennedy Krieger Institute’s annual fundraiser ROAR
for Autism will be held on
Saturday, April 25 at
Oregon Ridge Park.
Following a successful 2008 fundraiser that featured over 1,000
participants, once again teams of families and friends will
participate in the activity-filled event that helps raise critically
needed funds for autism research. Autism, a complex, life-altering,
developmental disorder, affects 1 in every 150 children.

ROAR
for Autism will feature events
and activities for every member of the family including challenging
50- and 25- mile rides, a 10-mile ride for recreational bikers, a
5-mile ride designed for beginner cyclists, and a kid’s youth
fun ride. For those who prefer to stay off the road and in the
woods, hiking trails at Oregon Ridge will be open with guides
available to lead tours. In addition to the hiking and biking
activities, there will also be a family fun festival including face
painting, children’s entertainment, and the popular Wegman’s
Wellness Village featuring healthy food for all families including
those with children on special autism diets.

With
last year marking the successful introduction of the online team
fundraising component, participants can once again go online to
register, join a fundraising team, and to build a personal
fundraising page to raise money from supporters. Additionally,
“Snore for ROAR” is an option again this year for those
individuals who can’t quite get out of bed that early but want
to make their voice heard and “ROAR” for autism research.

cyclists and hikers can register either solo or as a team. Rest
stops and bike repair services will be available along the bike
