\nanywhere in a traffic lane if they are traveling at the "normal" speed of
\ntraffic. It also would add several other circumstances (the avoidance of
\npedestrians or road hazards, approaching locations where right turns are
\nauthorized, and operating in a lane that is too narrow to travel side by
\nside with other traffic) under which these vehicles need not be ridden to
\nthe far right of the roadway, even when traveling slower than the normal
\nspeed of traffic.<\/p>\n

SUPPORT SENATE BILL 551<\/p>\n

Summary: SB 551 would provide that bicycles and motor scooters can ride

Position: SB 551 brings Maryland law in line with similar language adopted
\nby other states and the Uniform Vehicle Code. The Maryland Department of
\nTransportation (MDOT) supported SB 551 with certain amendments. One Less
\nCar, Inc. supports the bill with the amendments MDOT offered at the bill
\nhearing.<\/p>\n
