The Baltimore County Office of Planning is hosting several events on Thursday,
\nJune 1, 2006 related to the pedestrian\/bicycle planning process. I hope you will

4:00-5:00 \tA Special Presentation By Dan Burden:
\nMr. Burden, a nationally-recognized expert on walking and bicycling, will addess
\nthe Planning Board on Transportation and Liveable Communities. <\/p>\n
5:00-6:30 \tReception with Dan Burden:
\nTake advantage of this opportunity to talk with Dan about your pedestrian and
\nbicycling problems and ideas.<\/p>\n
5:30-8:30 \tBicycling and Walking Open House:
\nLearn about the draft Eastern County Pedestrian and Bicycle Access Plan. Provide
\ninput to the upcoming planning process for the Western Baltimore County
\nPedestrian and Bicycle Access Plan.<\/p>\n
OVERLEA WALKABLE WORKSHOP<\/p>\n
Dan Burden will lead a Walkable Overlea Workshop, providing an opportunity for
\ncommunity residents and business owners to collaborate with elected officials and
\ncounty and state planners on how to improve opportunities for walking and
\nbicycling.<\/p>\n
The workshop will be held on Thursday, June 1 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the
\nOverlea Recreation Center, located at 7209 Belair Road. Overlea residents who are
\ninterested in participating may call Laurie Hay, Baltimore County Office of
\nPlanning at 410-887-3480 for a reservation.<\/p>\n
MORE ABOUT DAN BURDEN<\/p>\n
An urban designer, Dan Burden is a nationally recognized authority on bicycle
\nand pedestrian facilities and programs, roadway corridor and intersection design,
\ntraffic flow and traffic calming. He has over 25 years experience, including 16
\nyears as Florida DOT\u2019s State Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator. Walkable
\nCommunities, Inc., is a nonprofit corporation helping to develop walkable
\ncommunities across North America. <\/p>\n
We are very fortunate to have Dan Burden come to Baltimore County to provide his
\ninsights for making Baltimore County a place for walking and bicycling.<\/p>\n
