{"id":309362706,"date":"2014-10-21T14:05:06","date_gmt":"2014-10-21T14:05:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=309362706"},"modified":"2014-10-21T14:05:06","modified_gmt":"2014-10-21T14:05:06","slug":"action-alert-from-bikemore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=309362706","title":{"rendered":"Action Alert from Bikemore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"null\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: #7700bb;display: block;font-family: Helvetica;font-size: 20px;font-weight: normal;line-height: 100%;margin-top: 0;margin-right: 0;margin-bottom: 10px;margin-left: 0;text-align: left;\"><strong>What is the I-70 Trail Connection all about?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The purpose of the I-70 Trail Connection, a joint project of \u201cThe I-70 Trail Connectors\u201d and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikemore.net\/\" style=\"color: #7700bb;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;\">Bikemore<\/a>&nbsp;<span class=\"wrc_icon wrc13\"><\/span>,&nbsp;is to ensure a <strong>safe, direct, and comfortable crossing of Security Boulevard<\/strong> (MD 122) from the Gwynns Falls Trail and communities on the east side of Security Boulevard to the proposed I-70 Red Line station on the west side of Security Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"347\" src=\"https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/9ae12933a17d8c1c4a22924d6\/images\/58f697a6-1b3b-44f2-b2ea-bde86968b030.png\" style=\"width: 700px;height: 347px;margin: 0px;border: 0;line-height: 100%;outline: none;text-decoration: none;display: inline; text-align: none;\" width=\"700\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), as part of their planning for the Red Line transit line, has proposed removing Interstate 70 inside the Beltway (I-695). They have also proposed <strong>moving Gwynns Falls Trailhead #1<\/strong> from its current location east of Security Boulevard to a new Red Line station west of Security Boulevard, <strong>physically separating the Trailhead from the trail itself. &nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The I-70 Trail Connectors, the group of neighbors and advocates in Western Baltimore City and County promoting a bridge crossing, and Bikemore have proposed <strong>using the existing interstate highway bridge infrastructure to create a bicycle\/pedestrian bridge over Security Boulevard.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The MTA and the State Highway Administration (SHA) do not support the local residents\u2019 proposal and have instead recommended <strong>\u2018at-grade\u2019 crossings of Security Boulevard<\/strong>, meaning pedestrians and cyclists would have to cross this busy roadway while navigating car, bus, and truck traffic. <strong>Would you want your kids crossing Security Boulevard on foot or on a bike?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Tack action here <a href=\"https:\/\/us4.campaign-archive2.com\/?u=9ae12933a17d8c1c4a22924d6&amp;id=59dbe6a15c&amp;e=454e16693f\">https:\/\/us4.campaign-archive2.com\/?u=9ae12933a17d8c1c4a22924d6&amp;id=59dbe6a15c&amp;e=454e16693f<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230; What is the I-70 Trail Connection all about?
