{"id":290800235,"date":"2014-03-20T17:50:35","date_gmt":"2014-03-20T17:50:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=290800235"},"modified":"2014-03-20T17:50:35","modified_gmt":"2014-03-20T17:50:35","slug":"please-support-bikemore-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=290800235","title":{"rendered":"Please support Bikemore today!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From Chris Merriam via email<\/p>\n<div id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3132\">Dear friends,<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3131\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3072\">As you know, I am Executive Director of Bikemore, Baltimore&#8217;s bicycle advocacy group.&nbsp;<span style=\"font-family:arial, sans-serif;font-size:12.727272033691406px;\" id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3237\">We work to <b id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3236\">make Baltimore a place where people can&nbsp;<\/b><\/span><b id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3263\"><span style=\"font-family:arial, sans-serif;font-size:12.727272033691406px;\" id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3262\">comfortably<\/span><span style=\"font-family:arial, sans-serif;font-size:12.727272033691406px;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size:12.727272033691406px;font-family:arial, sans-serif;\" id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3076\"><b id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3075\">ride a bicycle on city streets for fun, fitness, and transportation<\/b>.<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3077\"><span style=\"font-size:12.727272033691406px;font-family:arial, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3078\"><span style=\"font-size:12.727272033691406px;font-family:arial, sans-serif;\" id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3196\">So, <b id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3195\">what does that mean, and what do we actually <i id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3197\">do<\/i>?&nbsp;<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3081\">\n<ul id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3080\">\n<li id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3079\">We have <b id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3238\">monthly meetings<\/b> with the Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) in which we monitor progress on <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/bikemore.net\/bcdots-response-to-bikemores-fy2014-priorities\/\" style=\"font-family:arial, sans-serif;font-size:12.727272033691406px;\" id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3169\">a number of infrastructure and policy changes that we&#8217;ve advocated for<\/a><\/li>\n<li id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3082\">We <b id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3226\">build relationships<\/b> with elected representatives, community leaders, institutions, and other stakeholders around the city to engage them in the process of making our streets more friendly to people on bicycles<\/li>\n<li id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3083\">We attend <b id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3227\">community meetings<\/b> around the city to ensure that plans for roads and other public infrastructure are designed to serve people on bicycles<\/li>\n<li id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3084\">We <b id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3261\">mobilize our supporters<\/b> to weigh in on bicycle-related policy or infrastructure proposals, as necessary<\/li>\n<li id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3085\">We work with Baltimore&#8217;s larger bicycle community to <b id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3119\">build a culture of bicycling in Baltimore<\/b><\/li>\n<li id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3086\">(Plus a lot more!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3170\">And, of course, <b id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3239\">we raise money to fund all that work!<\/b> It takes a group of professional advocates working (more than) full-time to accomplish these goals, and that&#8217;s why <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/secure.squarespace.com\/commerce\/donate?donatePageId=523b5be3e4b06e0f6a31a530\" id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3256\"><b id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3255\">we need your support today<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-size:12.727272033691406px;font-family:arial, sans-serif;\" id=\"yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1395318332756_3192\">.
