There once was a motorist in L.A.
\nWho drove to work every day.
\nThough he didn’t live far,
\nHe’d travel by car,
\nAnd swear at all who got in his way.
\nHe tried to stay calm and genteel,
\nBut each time he took to the wheel
\nHe’d scream and he’d curse
\nAs the traffic got worse
\nUntil rage was all that he’d feel.
\nHe never stopped to ask why or to think
\nThat we all might be close to the brink.
\nHe was truly a twit,
\nFor he cared not a whit
\nAbout getting his life back in synch.
\nThen one day from out of the blue,
\nHe flashed on just what he should do–
\nHe’d give up his place
\nIn this asinine race,
\nAnd adopt an alternative view.
\nNo more would he just sit and stare
\nWhile his car kept on fouling the air.
\nAt this moment in time,
\nWith an insight sublime,
\nHe dared to assume his fair share.
\nHe found a new use for his bike
\nthat was kinder by far on his psych.
\nOn his daily commute
\nHe now wears a gym suit,
\nAnd can park wherever he’d like.
\nThough his pace may not seem quite as fast
\nAnd his colleagues at first were aghast,
\nHe’s managed to cope
\nAnd inspire new hope,
\nFor he seldom to work arrives last.
\nTo those too blind yet to see,
\nHe offers advice here for free:
\nDon’t be a knave
\nOr petroleum slave,
\nYou still have a choice–follow me!
