Recently, DNR was contacted by a bicyclist who was riding the Torrey C.
\nBrown Trail (North Central
\nTrail)<\/span> from its beginning in
\nMaryland to its terminus in
\nYork , PA, <\/span> where he and his
\nfriends were staying overnight.  He inquired where he could leave his
\nvehicle overnight when state <\/span>park
\npolicy prohibited overnight parking at the
\nDNR<\/span> trailhead lots.  Ranger Sarah Witcher, DNR’s trail
\nmanager out of
\nGunpowder State
\nPark , quickly notified the cyclist about the process
\nfor trail users wanting to leave a vehicle overnight.<\/span><\/b><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
1.     Contact Ranger Sarah Witcher<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n

2.    Provide Ranger Witcher with the following
\ninformation:<\/span><\/b><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
A.    Dates and times you plan to be parked in
\nthe DNR trailhead parking
\nlot<\/span> <\/span><\/b><\/b><\/div>\n


\nB.    The
\nspecific parking lot you intend to
\nuse<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

C<\/span>.    The number of participants
\nand the general plan for your trip <\/span><\/b><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
D<\/span>.    Your vehicle tag numbers
\nand\/or descriptions for those who plan to park overnight<\/span><\/b><\/b><\/div>\n
3.    Once you have provided Ranger Witcher
\nwith your vehicle description and general itinerary, she will issue a
\ndocument called a “use agreement” which will require your
\nsignature.<\/span><\/b><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
4.    Display the use agreement or some other easy
\nidentifier in your windshield on the night you leave your vehicle.
\n<\/span><\/b><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
5.    Ranger Witcher will let her staff and the
\nNatural Resources Police know, so they will not issue citations and can be aware
\nof your presence, for your safety and that of the other park
\npatrons.<\/span><\/b><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
6.    Ranger Witcher would generally like at least two
\nweeks notice.<\/span><\/b><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
