Restricting<br \/>\nright-turns on red can reduce con\ufb02 icts<br \/>\nbetween vehicles and pedestrians.<br \/>\nBlank out turn restriction signs are more<br \/>\neffective than conventional \u201cNo Right<br \/>\nTurn on Red\u201d signs. \u201cNo Right Turn on<br \/>\nRed\u201d signs that specify time-of-day<br \/>\nrestrictions or \u201cWhen Pedestrians are<br \/>\nPresent\u201d are confusing to motorists and<br \/>\nare often disregarded.<\/p>\n<p><b>Pedestrian Recall<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Pedestrian recall gives pedestrians a<br \/>\n\u201cWalk\u201d signal at every cycle. No pushbutton or detection is necessary since<br \/>\na \u201cWalk\u201d signal will always be given.<br \/>\nPedestrian recalls are useful in areas<br \/>\nwith high levels of pedestrian activity.<br \/>\nThey demonstrate that an intersection<br \/>\nis meant to serve both vehicles and<br \/>\npedestrians.
