When attempting to turn right on red,

\nright-turns on red can reduce con\ufb02 icts
\nbetween vehicles and pedestrians.
\nBlank out turn restriction signs are more
\neffective than conventional \u201cNo Right
\nTurn on Red\u201d signs. \u201cNo Right Turn on
\nRed\u201d signs that specify time-of-day
\nrestrictions or \u201cWhen Pedestrians are
\nPresent\u201d are confusing to motorists and
\nare often disregarded.<\/p>\n
Pedestrian Recall<\/b><\/p>\n
Pedestrian recall gives pedestrians a
\n\u201cWalk\u201d signal at every cycle. No pushbutton or detection is necessary since
\na \u201cWalk\u201d signal will always be given.
\nPedestrian recalls are useful in areas
\nwith high levels of pedestrian activity.
\nThey demonstrate that an intersection
\nis meant to serve both vehicles and
\npedestrians. In general, pedestrian recall
\nshould be used if pedestrians actuate
\na \u201cWalk\u201d signal 75 percent of the time
\nduring three or more hours per day<\/p>\n
