{"id":215914511,"date":"2011-11-05T00:15:11","date_gmt":"2011-11-05T00:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=215914511"},"modified":"2011-11-05T00:15:11","modified_gmt":"2011-11-05T00:15:11","slug":"w-va-to-get-4-8m-in-us-transportation-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=215914511","title":{"rendered":"W.Va. to get $4.8M in US transportation grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/ap\/financialnews\/D9QPB1501.htm\">Business Week<\/a> highlights:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div>\nWest Virginia will get $4.8 million in federal highway funds for projects that enhance pedestrians&#8217; and bicyclists&#8217; safety, preserve scenic views and boost historic preservation and tourism.\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Isn&#8217;t that nice <a href=\"https:\/\/www-fars.nhtsa.dot.gov\/States\/StatesPedestrians.aspx\">FARS<\/a> ranks West Virginia #24 for a high pedestrian fatality rate meanwhile Maryland with a ranking of #4 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enhancements.org\/profile\/MDprofile.php\"> $31.5 million in federal highway funds for projects that enhance pedestrians&#8217; and bicyclists&#8217; safety<\/a> <big><b>that is unspent<\/b><\/big> is not news worthy. \ud83d\ude41 For kicks look at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enhancements.org\/profile\/WVprofile.php\">West Virginia&#8217;s Transportation Enhancement spending<\/a> and you&#8217;ll note that they are spending more then Maryland and that Maryland&#8217;s Transportation Enhancement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enhancements.org\/profile\/MDprofile.php\">spending took a nose dive during O&#8217;Malley&#8217;s administration.<\/a> I can understand not spending money you don&#8217;t have but not spending money you do have? That is just crazy.<\/p>\n<p>If you care to write: governor@gov.state.md.us  <br \/>\nBut don&#8217;t expect a response that will hint at correcting this.
