{"id":201969500,"date":"2011-05-27T14:38:20","date_gmt":"2011-05-27T14:38:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=201969500"},"modified":"2011-05-27T14:38:20","modified_gmt":"2011-05-27T14:38:20","slug":"guilford-avenue-to-become-bike-boulevard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=201969500","title":{"rendered":"Guilford Avenue to Become &#8220;Bike Boulevard&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Adam Bednar North Baltimore Patch<\/p>\n<p>The Baltimore Department of Transportation will begin developing a \u201cbike boulevard\u201d along Guilford Avenue later this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Nate Evans, a bike pedestrian planner with the department, briefed Charles Village Civic Association members about the project at a meeting Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re not going to see much difference on Guilford except more bike traffic,\u201d Evans said. <\/p>\n<p>The planned bike boulevard will extend south to Mount Royal.<\/p>\n<p>Cyclist will still share the roadway with cars and trucks.<\/p>\n<p>Construction of the boulevard is expected to take four months.<\/p>\n<p>Planned improvements include:<\/p>\n<p>* Building bike-friendly traffic humps<br \/>\n* Constructing mini traffic circles where Guilford Avenue intersects with 32nd, 24th and 22nd streets<br \/>\n* Adding curb extensions at the intersection of Guilford and North avenues.<br \/>\n* Painting sections along 33rd Street green to show where cyclists should ride<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/northbaltimore.patch.com\/articles\/guilford-avenue-to-become-bike-boulevard\">https:\/\/northbaltimore.patch.com\/articles\/guilford-avenue-to-become-bike-boulevard<\/a>oldId.20110527143820119<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Adam Bednar North Baltimore Patch The Baltimore Department of Transportation will begin developing a \u201cbike boulevard\u201d along Guilford Avenue later this summer.
