{"id":177639421,"date":"2010-08-19T00:17:01","date_gmt":"2010-08-19T00:17:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=177639421"},"modified":"2010-08-19T00:17:01","modified_gmt":"2010-08-19T00:17:01","slug":"reed-bates-found-guilty-of-reckless-driving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=177639421","title":{"rendered":"Reed Bates found Guilty of &#8216;Reckless Driving&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-header\">\n<div class=\"post-header-line-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"post-body entry-content\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_-pTk73xe3SY\/TGweTzHsVMI\/AAAAAAAACsg\/eUuUbXKsnOk\/s1600\/stop.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 263px; border: 0px;\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/stop.jpeg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5506809769856095426\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Reed Bates (AKA ChipSeal) has been found guilty in Ellis County Court No. 2 on a charge of reckless driving for not riding as far right as possible (as stated by the prosecutor instead of the word &#8216;practicable&#8217;) in a 12&#8242; lane with 70 mph tractor-trailer trucks, and for not riding on an <a href=\"https:\/\/cycledallas.blogspot.com\/2010\/03\/absolutely-positively-not.html\">inconsistent, broken, and even nonexistent shoulder<\/a> when directed to ride there by local law enforcement officers, contrary to the requirements of <a href=\"https:\/\/cycledallas.blogspot.com\/2008\/09\/reading-is-fundamental-comprehension-is.html\">Sec. 551.103<\/a> of the Texas Transportation Code. Oddly, the fact that other vehicles were being allowed to exceed the posted speed limit was considered a reason to force a lawfully operating vehicle off the roadway.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the case against Mr. Bates was that he was riding at dusk, even though police detained him for almost 40 minutes (from roughly 5 to 5:40 pm) before letting him proceed.
