Societal benefits are<br \/>\neven larger due to a modest reduction in air pollution and greenhouse<br \/>\ngas emissions and traffic accidents.<\/p>\n<p>\n Conclusions: On average, the estimated health benefits of cycling were<br \/>\nsubstantially larger than the risks relative to car driving for<br \/>\nindividuals shifting mode of transport. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And this from the report itself<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The societal impact of a modal switch on the number of fatal accidents largely depends on which people switch from car to bicycle.
