{"id":163408560,"date":"2010-03-07T07:16:00","date_gmt":"2010-03-07T07:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=163408560"},"modified":"2010-03-07T07:16:00","modified_gmt":"2010-03-07T07:16:00","slug":"guilford-ave-cut-through","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=163408560","title":{"rendered":"Guilford Ave cut-through"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From NORTH BALTIMORE BIKE BRIGADE<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 238px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/guilford-bcpss-0031.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1132\" title=\"Guilford BCPSS 003\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/guilford-bcpss-0031.jpg?w=228&amp;h=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"228\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8230;.shouldn&#8217;t we always?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Aside from a few new bike lanes here or there as part of Operation Orange Cone, there hasn\u2019t been anything new to bike on in Baltimore for quite some time.&nbsp; Even the new shared bike and bus lanes downtown need some refreshing.&nbsp; One small victory was gained in the deep mid-winter on the central bikeway of Baltimore.&nbsp; Baltimore City Public School System had closed the parking lot of the Guilford Ave cut-through due to conflict between cyclists and pedestrians with extended gate arms and chains.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A compromise was reached by the Department of Transportation adding signage to direct cyclists to the parking lot and yiedling right-of-way to pedestrians; nothing more than is asked in the regualr course of travel by cyclists in all parts of the city\u2026and world.&nbsp;&nbsp; By adding 3 simple signs, the dream of the Guilford Ave Bicycle Boulevard lives on.<\/p>\n<p>Quite a few more signs for bicycles will spring up over the course of the spring, summer &amp; fall taking B\u2019more to the next level of bicycle existence.&nbsp; No, it\u2019s not Portland, Amsterdam, Copenhagen or even New York City.&nbsp; It\u2019s Baltimore.&nbsp; Not only will the Park Heights and Southeast Bike Networks become reality, but construction on 3 trail sections will begin&nbsp;and an existing trail will be recognized.<\/p>\n<p>Until the summer construction season, keep on riding, shake the remaining cold and yield to pedestrians.&nbsp; There are many events coming this summer that need assistance of experienced cyclists.&nbsp; Let\u2019s get more of B\u2019more outta cars and onto bikes!!!&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As Bartles&nbsp;&amp; James used to say, \u201cThank you for your support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/nbbb.wordpress.com\/2010\/03\/06\/direction\/\">https:\/\/nbbb.wordpress.com\/2010\/03\/06\/direction\/<\/a>oldId.20100307071600596<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From NORTH BALTIMORE BIKE BRIGADE &#8230;.shouldn&#8217;t we always?
