{"id":162990635,"date":"2010-03-02T11:10:35","date_gmt":"2010-03-02T11:10:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=162990635"},"modified":"2010-03-02T11:10:35","modified_gmt":"2010-03-02T11:10:35","slug":"bike-for-free-speech-a-three-man-trans-america-bicycle-ride-benefits-ncac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.baltimorespokes.org\/?p=162990635","title":{"rendered":"Bike for Free Speech: a Three Man Trans-America Bicycle Ride Benefits NCAC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Matthew Sottile, Dawson Burke, and Jimmy Barrett of Connecticut will \u201cBike for Progress.\u201d&nbsp; On April 1, 2010, the three high school friends will begin their trans-America journey, cycling from Baltimore, Maryland to Canon Beach, Oregon in support of free speech.&nbsp; All pledges and sponsorship for \u201cBike for Progress\u201d will be generously donated to NCAC.<\/p>\n<p>The cross-country trip has been in the works since Study Hall, their sophomore year in high school, but it was Matthew Sottile\u2019s recent idea to ride for our cause:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I first learned about NCAC several years ago through researching the annual <a href=\"https:\/\/ncac.org\/Banned-Books-Week\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Banned Books Week<\/a> event.&nbsp; I decided that I wanted to help raise money for NCAC because I believe that the preservation of ideas is of utmost importance, and that everyone who lives in a free country should be aware and willing to protect that.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>NCAC is thrilled to have the support of \u201cBike for Progress.\u201d You can learn more about the trio and follow their cross-country ride at <a href=\"https:\/\/bikeforprogress.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bike for Progress blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You too can support NCAC and \u201cBike for Progress\u201d with a <a href=\"https:\/\/ncac.org\/Bike-for-Progress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">donation<\/a>.
