Please continue to be very careful when driving and walking. Here are some more safety tips to keep in mind.<\/p>\n<p>For drivers:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Slow down and obey the posted speed limit.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Stop for pedestrians at crosswalks and intersections- it&#8217;s the law.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Don&#8217;t block crosswalks when stopping at intersections.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Take extra care around schools, playgrounds, and neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Always look out for pedestrians, especially before turning at a green light or making a &quot;right turn on red.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Obey signs, signals and markings&#8211;and never run red lights.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Be careful when passing stopped vehicles. They might be stopping for pedestrians.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Share the road. It is your responsibility to look out for others.<\/p>\n<p>For pedestrians:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 If you must walk in the street, face traffic so you can see the vehicles coming toward you.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Stay visible after dark and in bad weather with reflectors or retroreflective clothing. \u2022 Cross the street at marked crosswalks and intersections whenever possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Stop and look every time before crossing streets, even when you have the right-of-way, and especially at intersections with \u201cright turn on red.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Before crossing, look left, right, then left again, and over your shoulder for turning vehicles. \u2022 Begin crossing the street on \u201cWalk\u201d signals \u2013 never on a solid or flashing \u201cDon\u2019t Walk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/notes\/nancy-floreen\/pedestrian-safety-after-snow\/328491401624\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/notes\/nancy-floreen\/pedestrian-safety-after-snow\/328491401624<\/a>oldId.20100216183132173<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Nancy Floreen Although we are getting back to normal in many ways, visibility is still limited by large snow banks, and many sidewalks are still hidden under mounds of snow.
