The area being studied includes 11.5 acres around the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/?ie=UTF8&amp;hq=&amp;hnear=307+Kentucky+Ave+SE,+Washington,+District+of+Columbia,+20003&amp;ll=38.936304,-76.960001&amp;spn=0.004398,0.013078&amp;z=17\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rhode Island Avenue and 34th Street<\/a> areas, and one thing they want to do is make the area <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gazette.net\/stories\/01212010\/greenew180440_32552.php\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">more bicycle-friendly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nAfter months of community meetings and studies, Washington, D.C.-based<br \/>\nconsultants Cunningham Quill Architects presented a preliminary &#8220;vision<br \/>\nplan&#8221; to residents on Jan. 12.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe presentation included details on decreasing street parking spaces<br \/>\nfrom 14-feet to standard 8-feet wide spaces and using the extra space<br \/>\nfor wider sidewalks and commuter bicycles lanes. <\/p>\n<p>Resident Dave MacMillan said he liked the integration of bike and<br \/>\npedestrian culture in the plan, but wanted some measures to discourage<br \/>\nadditional liquor stores from opening in the city.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure the two are related.<\/p>\n<p>The presentations don&#8217;t have a lot of specifics on bikes, but they show the Bike Station, bike lanes and artistic bike racks. They also have a lot of cool old photos of Mount Rainier during the streetcar days, if you&#8217;re into such things.
