Contact your congressional representatives and ask them to
\nsupport new active transportation projects for the
\n Baltimore area!  The City of Baltimore
\nhas 4 projects that will need federal funding \u2013 Herring Run Trail
\nextension, Baltimore & Annapolis Trail extension, Bike Station improvements
\nand reconstructing the Middle Branch Bridge for cyclists and pedestrians!

BIKE INFRASTRUCTURE<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

New Bike Lanes \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/b>The first bike lanes of the 2009
\nconstruction season are installed on Wabash
\n Avenue between
\n Bareva Rd and
\n Hilton Rd.   These bike lanes are
\nalong the left side of the road to improve access for the residents in this
\narea.  The lanes will further extend to the Cold Spring Metro Station and
\n West Cold Spring Lane .<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

New Bike Parking \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/b>
\nBaltimore<\/span><\/span> has 2 new bike parking
\nfacilities:  The on-street bike parking in
\n Charles Village
\nand new bike lids at the West Baltimore MARC Station.  The on-street
\nfacility in Charles
\n Village converts a
\nvehicular space and provides parking for 10-12 bicycles.  The bike lids
\nprovide longer term parking to commuters at the MARC Station.  The lids
\neffectively cover the bike protecting it from vandals and weather.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

BIKE EVENTS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The Bike Blast <\/span><\/b>on
\nApril 25th<\/sup> and the Bike Summit <\/span><\/b>on
\nMay 1st<\/sup> were both a huge success!  The Bike Summit laid out a
\nvision of what biking in Baltimore
\nwill look like in 10-15 years.  Cycling advocates, city and state
\nofficials came together to share ideas and resources to improve biking in
\n Baltimore . Results from
\nthe Bike Summit will be posted online when available.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bike To Work Day <\/span><\/span><\/b>is Friday, May 15th<\/sup>,
\n2009.  The annual downtown rally at War
\n Memorial Plaza
\nis one of many rallies taking place in Baltimore .
