Dear Citizens:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

April has sprung
\n forward only to bring with her another opportunity to experience the beauty
\n of Baltimore and her citizens. 
\n <\/span>Recently, during one of my weekly Friday morning bike rides I was
\n afforded the opportunity to gaze upon the cherry blossoms that thrive
\n alongside Druid Hill Reservoir.  <\/span>As I
\n returned to City Hall to continue on with the business of the day, I was
\n again moved by the budding flowerbeds of the historic cultural district of
\n Mt. Vernon.  <\/span>In all, I was reminded
\n that the short days of winter have finally rested over the horizon and now
\n spring has taken nature\u2019s stage. 
\n <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Spring is a reminder to
\n us that life can spring forward from the cold, icy and often dark days of
\n winter.  <\/span>Just as in our own lives we
\n all go through our own wintry storms, spring is a reminder that a new season
\n will come.  <\/span>Situations that once appeared<\/span><\/i> hopeless and dead will again breathe life.  <\/span>The seeds that were planted in the fall and
\n endured the winter are now beginning to blossom in the rays of a new day. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

As many of us prepare for the three-day holiday weekend
\n and we start to see the first blossoms of spring, I encourage you to think
\n about our City\u2019s quest to be a cleaner, greener, healthier, and safer
\n Baltimore.  <\/span>Spring is a signal of
\n renewal and we can all contribute in small ways to the renewal of our City.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On Saturday, April 18, I am hosting my 10th<\/sup>
\n annual Spring Clean Up. This year\u2019s theme, \u201cClean your Alley
\n & Plant a Tree,\u201d recognizes the simple but sustainable projects
\n communities do to create a cleaner and greener neighborhood. So far more than
\n 117 community groups and over 1900 volunteers have registered to participate
\n in this initiative.  Many more are expected to register.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
