\nEvent to Raise Funds for Autism Research<\/i> <\/span><\/span>\"image\"<\/p>\n

BALTIMORE,
\nMD –<\/b> This year, families
\nthroughout the region will once again come together to “ROAR”
\nfor the millions of children with autism who cannot. Celebrating its
\n5<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup>
\nanniversary, Kennedy Krieger Institute’s annual fundraiser <\/span>ROAR
\nfor Autism<\/b> will be held on
\n<\/span>Saturday, April 25<\/b> at
\n<\/span>Oregon Ridge Park<\/b>.
\nFollowing a successful 2008 fundraiser that featured over 1,000
\nparticipants, once again teams of families and friends will
\nparticipate in the activity-filled event that helps raise critically
\nneeded funds for autism research. Autism, a complex, life-altering,
\ndevelopmental disorder, affects 1 in every 150 children.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

ROAR
\nfor Autism<\/b> will feature events
\nand activities for every member of the family including challenging
\n50- and 25- mile rides, a 10-mile ride for recreational bikers, a
\n5-mile ride designed for beginner cyclists, and a kid’s youth
\nfun ride. For those who prefer to stay off the road and in the
\nwoods, hiking trails at Oregon Ridge will be open with guides
\navailable to lead tours. In addition to the hiking and biking
\nactivities, there will also be a family fun festival including face
\npainting, children’s entertainment, and the popular Wegman’s
\nWellness Village featuring healthy food for all families including
\nthose with children on special autism diets. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

With
\nlast year marking the successful introduction of the online team
\nfundraising component, participants can once again go online to
\nregister, join a fundraising team, and to build a personal
\nfundraising page to raise money from supporters. Additionally,
\n“Snore for ROAR” is an option again this year for those
\nindividuals who can’t quite get out of bed that early but want
\nto make their voice heard and “ROAR” for autism research.
